Getting a Library Card

Library cards are issued to persons residing in or paying property taxes in Roseville. Proof of eligibility is required. Also, employees of businesses in Roseville and children attending school in Roseville may obtain a courtesy card with acceptable documentation. Contact the library for more information.

Others not eligible for free service can purchase a Suburban Library Cooperative non-resident card for $200.00 per year.

For a library card application, click here. Library cards are only issued in person at the Circulation Desk in the library with proper I.D.

Text Notifications

The Roseville Public Library can send text messages to your SMS/text messaging-enabled mobile phone when your reserved materials arrive at the library, to let you know about overdues, or for bill notification on your account.

Check with your mobile phone provider to find out if you will be charged for this service.

To receive text notifications, register at the Circulation Desk.

Reciprocal Borrowing

As a member of the Suburban Library Cooperative we share a catalog and reciprocal borrowing privileges with other SLC libraries. Individual library policies apply to materials owned by other libraries so fines, fees and check-out periods may differ.

You can visit the catalog or call the Library to request an item from another SLC library.

MeL

The Roseville Public Library participates in MelCat, a voluntary state-wide lending program. If you searched our shared catalog and could not locate an item you would like, you may search and request items in MelCat at www.mel.org. Normal delivery is usually one week.

Materials by Mail

Homebound Roseville residents are able to register with the library to receive and return materials through the mail at no cost. Patrons may select their own materials or the librarian will assist them. For additional information contact Ashlee McClaughry at 586-447-4559.

Deposit Collection

All GED and ASVAB books are shelved at the Circulation Desk. In order to check one out, the patron must leave a $20.00 cash deposit. Books must be returned directly to the Circulation Desk and if the patron has their receipt or identification the $20.00 will be returned to them. Regular overdue fines apply if these items are returned late. It is possible to check out more than one book at a time; however, a $20.00 deposit must be left for each book.

Personal Checks

As of March 6, 2017 the Library no longer accepts personal checks.

Fines and fees associated with library materials and included in patron library accounts may be paid with cash, debit or credit cards (with possible use fees) or money order. Library boutique items, deposit collection fees, program fees, photocopies and printing must be paid with cash.

Patrons may purchase items from the Friends of the Roseville Public Library or Roseville Historical and Genealogical Society and pay with personal checks, however the checks must be made out to the organization selling the merchandise and must include the patron’s drivers license number and phone number.

Returned Checks

The City of Roseville and the Roseville Public Library charge a $40.00 fee for checks returned for insufficient funds.
