MLK Day of Service – Plarn Making Drop-in Community Service – Monday, January 20 From 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Each year, on the third Monday in January, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is observed as a “day on, not a day off.” MLK Day of Service is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community.”
The library will host a day of community service to benefit the local organization, “Macomb Feeding the Need.” Drop in anytime between 10am and 7pm for as little or as long as you can to help make “plarn” (plastic yarn) from grocery bags that the organizations uses to make sleeping mats for the homeless. This event is for adults, teens, and tweens and no experience is necessary. Community service credit is available for students, just bring your forms. No registration required. Bring your own grocery bags or use those we have collected.
