Book Tasting

Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 P.M.

Looking to hear more about interesting new books? Then join us for an evening “Dinner” where books are on the menu. There will be a wide variety of selections to choose from as well as an opportunity to enjoy a delicious “bite”. On the menu is Off the Wall, Nonfiction, General Fiction, and Suspense. Registration begins April 4.

 

Deal Me In! Hearts

Monday, April 29 at 6:00 P.M.

Player of all skill levels are welcome to a social night of hearts. We provide the cards, you provide the fun. Our presenter from earlier Deal Me In! sessions will be available for help and strategy advice.

Need a refresher or want to learn the game? Drop in between 4 and 6 PM for instruction before the social play begins.

Registration begins Monday, April 8th.

From Felix to the Flintstones: Short Animation 1920-1960

Tuesday, May 7 at 2:00 P.M.

John Monaghan, who teaches History of Animation at College for Creative Studies, examines the appeal of animated short films in theaters and on TV. The program covers Felix the Cat, the first cartoon series star, through to TV cartoon staples like Fred Flintstone and Yogi Bear. Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, and of course Walt Disney will also appear in this discussion with plenty of projected film clips.

 

 

Green Thumb #3: How to Create an Eco-friendly Garden?

Thursday, May 9 at 6:00 P.M.

“Green Thumb” is a monthly event from March to October 2024 about gardening. For one hour, a speaker introduces a subject, answers questions and may proposes activities according to the subject.

For the third date of the season, Lori Smith, Advanced Macomb County Master Gardener, will talk about her experience of preparing seeds, using organic ways to take care of plants, especially with companions planting, as well as collecting rainwater.  Registration required.
